Fine large freestanding heavy cast bronze St Martin's Iona cross by Alexander and Euphemia Ritchie. Height approx 8". Early piece c.1905-1910. The base is stamped in typeface 'St Martin's Cross Iona', beneath which is A.E.R in scrolled lettering.

Very unusual Alexander Ritchie design silver cross. The reverse marks are the AR 'spectacle' mark, together with AR IONA and a Glasgow hallmark for 1922. For reference, if you have Mairi MacArthur's excellent book on Alexander and Euphemia Ritchie, the identical original Ritchie design can be seen among other items of jewellery made by AR in the old postcard of his work on p.69.
Designwise, with the tight elaborate knotwork, this particular cross bears more resemblance to Manx crosses of the 9th/10th century, than any on Iona. If you check out The Lonan Cross, I.O.M, on Google, you will see strong similarities.

Unusual small Alexander Ritchie silver cross, reverse marked with the AR spectacle mark; and Glasgow hallmark for 1929, date letter 'h'. Height 4cms. Designs take from medieval stone carvings on Iona.

Sterling silver cross by Alexander Ritchie, with braided knotwork design. Approx. 2.75" x 1", the reverse having a Registration mark and conjoined AR and IONA recessed marks. Date from registration mark is c.1914. It is the first of this design that I have seen.

Rarely seen Alexander Ritchie silver cross with foliate and knotwork decoration. The side has AR IONA stamped on it and the base has a registration number together with AR IONA. 1920s period, and can be also seen in a postcard of Ritchie's work from this period. The first one of these I've seen. This one came to light in California.
